Nostril Piercing Healing Signs

Nostril piercings don’t usually have pain associated with them during the bulk of the healing period, so it’s hard to tell when they are done healing unless you know what to look for. This brief guide should help.

Outer Surface:

The skin surrounding the top surface opening is smooth and even with the rest of the nostril skin.

Any redness or the presence of a “piercing bubble” indicates that the piercing is still healing and should not be changed. (Time for hot water compress!)

inner surface:

The nostril lining is smooth around the inner opening, with no thickening or bumps present.

If the “healing ridge” is still present the piercing is still actively healing. Use the light from your cell phone to view - avoid pushing on the tip of the nose.

Nostril piercings take a solid 8 months for single sites to heal, and up to 12 months for more than one site. Monitoring these surfaces is how to tell that its completed.
